Welcome to Adairsville
- August 26, 2010
Adairsville, Georgia is a charming small town about one hour north of Atlanta. Stepping into Adairsville is like stepping into another time, and it is the first town in Georgia to be listed in its entirety on the National Register of Historic Places.
Adairsville is steeped in Civil War history, including such historic events as the Great Locomotive Chase in 1862 and the Gravel House Battle in 1864, also known as the Battle of Adairsville. A three day celebration is held in Adairsville every year during the first weekend of October in commemoration of the Great Locomotive Chase, an event that became well known thanks to a 1956 Walt Disney film based on it. Make sure to mark your calendars for the festival!
If you are planning a vacation retreat to the North Georgia area, Barnsley Gardens Resort may be your choice for a wonderfully relaxing place to stay. It is a beautiful resort located in Adairsville that has attracted guests to the area since 1841. You may want to take in a round of golf, visit the spa, take a tour of the gardens, or get a delightful meal at one of the resort restaurants. Lake Allatoona is close by for those who enjoy boating and fishing. Red Top Mountain State Park is also in the area if hiking, biking, and getting back to nature is what excites you. There is a large number of museums to visit from science and history to the arts. Regardless of what your interests are, there’s sure to be something here to interest everyone!

Visit the historic Ruins at Barnsley Gardens Resort on Saturday, September 11, 2010 for Under the Autumn Moon, a romantic evening of dancing under the stars. There will be candlelight and moonlight shining on you as you dance the night away. Enjoy the warmth of a fire as you sip your hot toddies while listening the live music playing.
