Great Locomotive Chase Festival

It’s time to celebrate the 42nd annual Great Locomotive Chase Festival in downtown Adairsville on the historic square on October 1 – 3, 2010. Come on down and check out the arts and crafts, food, and entertainment. The Little Mr. and Miss Festival pageant begins Friday night at 6 PM. Enjoy the parade on Saturday morning at 11 AM. The Miss Festival and Junior Miss Festival pageant starts at 3 PM on Saturday. Don’t forget your dancing shoes as there will be a street dance Friday and Saturday night from 8 PM to 11 PM. There will be Gospel singing on Sunday. Make sure to stop by the Age of Steam Rail Depot Museum and be entertained by the festival activities taking place there. The museum will be offering heritage craft demonstrations such as basket weaving, quilting and much more.
The festival is open Friday and Saturday 8 AM to 11 PM, Sunday 12 Noon to 5 PM. Admission for the festival is $3 for everyone 6 and up. Sunday admission is FREE. For more details and information contact 770-773-3451, ext 26.

Pumpkin Patch Farm

Don’t miss the fun at the Pumpkin Patch Farm the whole month of October, 2010. Bring the family out for a hayride through the pumpkin fields and along the Oothcalooga Creek as you listen to stories and learn about nature and how pumpkins are grown. The kids, young and old, will really enjoy petting the animals in the barnyard as well as the hay maze. There are games such as stick horse races and pumpkin ring tosses. You can even have your face painted or pedal your way around on a John Deere tractor. Once your day of fun is done, don’t forget to pick out some pumpkins and Indian corn to take home with you.
Pumpkin Patch Farm is open every Saturday and Sunday through October from 10 AM to 5 PM. Arrangements can be made for school or church groups and birthday parties. Call 770-773-2617 for more information.
Admission is $6 plus tax and includes the following activities: hayride, animal barnyard, stick horse corral, pumpkin ring toss, hay maze, and the John Deere pedal tractors. Face painting is extra.
